Marketplace Find for Five

Listen y'all.  I cannot express my excitement as I was pulling up to a young lady's house today purchasing a five dollar desk I thought would be a small little something for my oldest to use in his bedroom for a desk.
Um, negative. It is way too large for the boy's room. Our two boys share a bedroom & I need something that will double as another use or fold-up easily & store when not in use.

I usually don't search on  Marketplace on Facebook but I stepped out & decided to, just to see what I could find. I was looking for two things: 1. A small desk for O (our oldest boy) & 2. A narrow desk for my sewing area in the dining room.

Unfortunately, it is still 9,000 degrees here in Southeast Georgia & there is no air in my studio; yet. Once I'm able to purchase & install an air conditioner, I will. That's a "next year project" though. Soon enough, it'll cool off & I'll have plenty of fresh Fall breeze to work with out there, but for now & honestly, for a place for inside-sewing, I needed an upgrade.

My one year old little Lolly is into everything & what I was using was a console sewing machine that I was given with a piece of plywood & my machine on table with the arm folded out. For the life of me I cannot get this machine to do anything but a basic stitch and am going to have to hire out & have a once-over done. I have maxed out what I know & nothing I knew or learned while trying, worked.

I'm sure by now, you've gathered that I'm not super fancy, I'm more of a practical gal & I'm not trying to impress anyone, so i just need something that will work & I can straighten up and cover when I need to.

I washed up my five dollar find & viola:

Sure, it could use a coat of paint but it's fine for now & moved right in & only sticks out an inch more than what I was looking for. It's not the same style as what I had been looking at but the one I wanted was $130 plus tax & all that jazz.

It's a no brainer for me. I'll take this five dollar find any day.  AND, I made a place for O & his Chromebook. Win, win.

Alright, it's been a minute since I've posted.  I've been meaning to post my kitchen floor redo from start to finish. I'm pretty excited because I got the linoleum that I really wanted and it honestly wasn't very expensive. I even have leftovers to do my hallway & bathroom.

It was awful y'all.

Our fridge leaked & we started out replacing under it but once we got in there...there was more. So, my handsome husband cut out the floor & replaced it. We got a new fridge & I walked on plywood for a year because I wasn't very motivated to lay linoleum & I refuse to hire out for something like that because I'm cheap.

This is just the beginning of our kitchen redo. It'll take years, I'm sure. We started with the floor up because we had to. Next will be the cabinets. That'll be one piece at a time like the Johnny Cash song.

Tadaaah! My beautiful kitchen floor is finished:

The trim isn't on yet. I'll do that once the cabinets are painted, which will be another year knowing my speed.

Reading Nook Comfort

A family of Dalmatians showed up to our house today. Honestly, I was suppose to be done with weeks ago but I am who I am. Rarely am I on time for anything anymore.

At any rate, I asked Ev's (my 5 year old) teacher if I could make anything for her classroom & they needed some pillows for the reading nook. Let's hope these little pups work!

I'm Busting at the Seams to Share

Did you see what I did there? Busting at the seams? Ahem. I started blogging eight years ago on April 14th, 2010. Pretty cool, huh? I adore all forms of expression, aside from cross stitch.

Y'all, I just can't.

It pinches my nerves. Nope, no thank you. I'll leave that crafty stitchy jazz for someone else. It's just not my calling. Although, practically ever other form of expression is & that is what this blog will be dedicated to.

Those of you that personally know me, know that I've been creative my whole life & started a new (yes, there have been others) business venture three years ago as of January 7th.

Happychondriac: habitually happy & joy-filled.

You can find all of my social media linky's at the top & I'll be updating as time becomes available to do so.

This blog will be dedicated to all things creative. Whether it's something that I make to sell, to give away, do for charity or do for myself; it'll be here. Home improvements, upcycling, repurposing, sewing, crochet, papercrafting, beadwork, painting, woodwork, vinyl designs & well, the list can go on forever but I'll stop & share my morning project for a friend:
